The ideas behind Flora Prisma

The ideas behind Flora Prisma have taken shape over several years, and I’m grateful to finally begin sharing them with you.

The project started as an exploration of two interests: a love of thoughtful design and a fascination with the hidden colors found in plants.

Botanical dyes reveal themselves in interesting and sometimes unexpected ways. Through the combination of fiber, water, raw natural dye materials, heat, and time, new colors and prints emerge. The natural variations that result from botanical dyes are not flaws but records of the process. Each piece of fabric carries subtle differences created by the materials and by the moment in which it was made.

At a time when much of our clothing is produced anonymously, at massive scale and great environmental cost, I wanted to explore a slower hands-on approach, with sustainability in mind from the beginning. Many of our first Flora Prisma pieces are dyed by hand using plant-based color. Each garment is designed for longevity— to be worn, restyled, and lived in over time, allowing personal style to shape how it evolves.

I extend that same sense of intention across the brand. Decisions about materials, supply chains, and partnerships are made with care, centering sustainability and the people involved in the work.

Flora Prisma uses handmade processes to create one-of-a-kind and small-batch clothing that is personal and reflective. Your interest and support mean a great deal.
